The in-person Respiratory Therapy Faculty member is responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the respiratory therapy program. This role involves developing curriculum, delivering lectures, and providing hands-on training in clinical settings. The faculty member will also engage in research, contribute to program development, and participate in academic committees.. The faculty member will work in collaboration with the program director and department head on all Respiratory Therapy (RT) program initiatives, including training students and faculty, coordinating the RT labs, designing training materials, coordinating projects, furthering best practices among students and faculty, and representing the RT initiatives within the College and externally.
Specific Position Duties
- Develop and deliver course content for respiratory therapy classes, including lectures, labs, and clinical instruction.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through exams, projects, and practical assessments.
- Oversee students during clinical rotations, ensuring they gain practical experience in patient care.
- Maintain relationships with clinical sites and ensure compliance with clinical education standards.
- Mentor students in their professional development and research projects.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and accreditation processes.
- This position may require working in both classroom and clinical settings.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and hold a professional license or certificate as is required by the state in which he or she is employed.
Bachelor’s degree, respiratory care, or related field
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care teach program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
