Pump Fundamentals Instructor

Job Description

Position Summary

The Workforce and Continuing Education Department is recruiting for a part-time instructor to teach Pump Fundamentals. This position is responsible for  providing instruction on the different types of pumps, their applications, and key maintenance practices. Course topics include centrifugal and positive-displacement pumps, mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, pump-to-motor alignment, piping load effects, troubleshooting, and energy efficiency strategies. Students will gain hands-on experience by testing live pumps, analyzing performance curves, and implementing operational improvements. Training is held on an as-needed basis with classes meeting at either the main campus or the Industrial Training Center.

Qualifications

  • Requires at least five years' experience in a related trade
  • Familiarity with NCCER certifications is preferred
  • Teaching experience helpful
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to demonstrate proper and safe techniques of the trade. This includes the ability to use arms, hands, legs, and fingers for the use of tools and equipment. The employee will be required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to a computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
