Instructional Designer/Trainer:
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Instructional Designer/Trainer is responsible the Vice-President of Information Systems and Technology. This is a security-sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215)
Specific duties include:
Designing and delivering high impact learning solutions that drive student engagement and success.
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify skills gaps and develop training initiatives to close the gap for faculty and staff.
- Conduct training sessions related to adult learning methodologies, virtual and in-person course development, accessibility and innovation, and best practices in instructional design.
- Collaborate with faculty on course development projects (instructional design, technology integration, etc.).
- Collaborate with faculty to create engaging curriculum materials, especially when utilizing open educational resource materials.
- Support advanced technologies to create interactive, scalable, and learner-centric training programs.
- Participate in the measurement and evaluation of the training program effectiveness.
- Create learning content designs via templates, videos, instructor guides, workbooks, manuals, webpages, etc.
- Assist Director of Distance Education with LMS functions and oversight.
- Assist with official reviews for online courses.
- Assist faculty and staff with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and ADA compliance regarding courses and webpages.
- Maintain and update the Teaching, Learning & Leading Center webpage’s online resources.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Information Systems and Technology, Vice President of Instructional Services, and the President.
Travel Required: Yes
Experience and Training: Proven experience in instructional design or teaching within higher education. Strong one-on-one and group presentation and facilitation skills. Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional strategies. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability and to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Requires research skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, questioning feedback skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree preferred
Salary or Salary Range: This is a full-time 10 month faculty position with full time benefits. The salary is based on the Faculty salary schedule. The salary is $44,220 to $52,060 based on experience and education. Applications will be accepted until this position is filled. This position is available on October 1st, 2025.
