Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Office Assistant for the Forestry and Natural Resource Program Extension at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Oregon Natural Resources Education Program (ONREP) offers environmental education training and support for PreK–12 educators across Oregon.

This part-time student assistant role (10 -15 hours/week) provides comprehensive support to the ONREP program, contributing to communication, record maintenance, workflow improvements, and research projects. The position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

The assistant will play a key role in enhancing statewide environmental education and will be a valued member of the ONREP team. The position allows for some autonomy in managing tasks and time, and emphasizes a workplace culture built on trust, respect, and open communication, recognizing the balance between personal life, academic priorities, and professional responsibilities.

Position Duties

Key Responsibilities:

Program & Office Support:
  • Support professional development events and workshops
  • Maintain and update records, inventories, and processes (digital and physical).
  • Support workflow innovations and process improvements.
  • Assist with research projects and data compilation.
  • Perform data entry and word processing using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
  • Provide technical support including spreadsheet creation and editing
  • Handle printing, archiving, shipping, and post-event document processing.
Communication:
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with the ONREP team via in-person meetings, email, Microsoft Teams, and shared calendars/spreadsheets
  • Communicate with facilitators, partners, and workshop participants via email and phone.
  • Attend and contribute to ONREP team meetings as schedule allows.
Other Duties:
  • Perform work in the ONREP office and in the ONREP storage building/room
  • Additional tasks and projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

  • Proficient in graphic design software such as Canva
  • Familiar with online storage systems such as Box
  • Experience using various program management tools: email listservs, Qualtrics, Drupal, etc.
  • Experience with website content management
