UMMG Per Diem Staff Physician - Medicine, General Internal Medicine

Position Summary:
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine Physician to provide outpatient-only primary care on a per diem basis. The physician will manage a panel of adult patients in a clinic setting, focusing on preventive care, chronic disease management, and treatment of acute, non-emergent conditions. This flexible, non-continuous role is ideal for physicians who are looking to work on an as-needed basis with no inpatient or on-call responsibilities.
 

Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary care to adults (18+ years) in an outpatient clinic setting.
• Perform routine health screenings, physical exams, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate care with specialists when needed.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
• Utilize EMR to document visits accurately and in a timely manner.
• Educate patients on preventive care, health maintenance, and self-management of chronic conditions.
• Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, care coordinators, and administrative staff to optimize patient care.
• Adhere to clinic policies, evidence-based practice guidelines, and quality initiatives.
• Provide coverage during provider absences, high-volume periods, or for specific clinic days as scheduled.


Qualifications:
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.

• Valid, unrestricted medical license in Florida.
• Current DEA registration and state-controlled substance license (if applicable).
• Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) preferred.
• Commitment to providing equitable, patient-centered care.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Work Schedule & Expectations:
• Per diem (as-needed); flexible schedule based on clinic needs and provider availability.
• No hospital, inpatient, or after-hours call responsibilities.
• Availability for coverage during provider PTO, sick leave, or increased patient demand is preferred.
